Depart Dar es Salaam on a flight to Kigoma. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Optional highlights include visiting the Old German Railway Station or the Ujiji Livingstone Memorial.
Travel from Kigoma to Mahale via a rugged 7-8 hour road journey and a ferry crossing. Reach Bilenge for park registration, followed by a 30-minute boat ride across Lake Tanganyika to reach the forested shorelines of Mahale.
Spend two days tracking the Mimikire chimpanzee group. Observe their fascinating social interactions in the dense rainforest. After treks, enjoy kayaking on the lake or a refreshing swim at Kasiha Water Pool. Day 4 concludes with a spectacular sunset boat safari.
After breakfast, return to Bilenge by boat and begin the drive back to Kigoma Town, passing through palm plantations and rural villages. Enjoy your final dinner in Western Tanzania.
Transfer to Kigoma Airport for your scheduled flight back to Dar es Salaam, marking the end of your extraordinary primate trek.
